What is a vehicle salvage check?

A vehicle salvage check searches databases and auction house records to see if a vehicle has previously been declared a total loss or sold as salvage, often revealing structural or severe damage.

How do I check if a car is Cat S or Cat N?

To check if a car is Cat S (Structural Damage) or Cat N (Non-Structural Damage), enter the registration number into our Salvage Check tool. We instantly query historical records to see if it has been written off and categorized by insurers.

Does this include Copart auction history?

Yes! Our salvage check includes extensive UK Copart auction history. If the car was sold through a salvage auction, we can often show you the exact date of sale and the original damage photos from the auction lot.

How can I find out if a car has been written off?

The easiest way to find out if a car has been written off is by running a full salvage history check. It will reveal if the car was an insurance write-off, even if the seller is trying to hide it.
